The Hallmark Channel has been showing uncut episodes of M.A.S.H. When M.A.S.H. was on first run and also in at the same time syndication, I watched it up to five times a day. There was a time when I took great pride in being able to identify any episode after about 15 seconds. Apparently over the years in syndication the T.V. stations cut more and more out of the episodes to allow for more commercials. Watching the uncut episodes has been something of a surreal experience. At one point I am watching a show that I can almost recite and then suddenly there is a scene I have no recollection of whatsoever. Its a little like they are making new scenes 25 years later. Unfortunately Hallmark still wants to show the same amount of commercials as the cut versions allowed, so they are showing three shows in two hours. This makes it significantly more tedious. I guess I could just get the DVDs, season one through five at least. That would mean I would finally have to actually go get a DVD player.
